Biography:
“I have been a homeowner in Granby Ranch since 2007, and love Granby Ranch and the many friends I have made there. In 2017, I was asked by a board member of Headwaters Metropolitan District (Headwaters) to join the Roads Subcommittee of Headwaters. This Subcommittee was tasked with assisting Headwaters get the numerous defective roads in Filings 3, 6, 8, and 10 repaired and accepted by the Town of Granby.
I ran for the board of GRMD in May 2018 because I was rather frustrated by local metro district boards being controlled by developers, their appointees or employees, as compared to the residents and homeowners who pay the taxes. My core principles in being a board member are simple - (1) Be the most transparent board in the community, (2) Protect taxpaying property owners and homeowners interests first and foremost above other interests, and (3) Lower taxes and do not increase our debt. I am honored to be a board member who has served the community since May 2018, to be the current President, and to have been re-elected to a 2nd four year term in 2022."

Board Member Qualifications
To serve on the District board, individuals cannot have been convicted of a felony. In addition, Colorado law requires individuals be (1) a registered voter in Colorado and either (a) a resident of the District for not less than 30 days or (b) an owner of taxable real or personal property situated within the District. A person who owns property within the District through a legal entity (e.g. partnership, LLC, corporation, trust) does not meet the qualification requirements to serve on the District board.
Interested individuals must also be willing to complete the oath of office and attend the District's regular board meetings. A director will automatically vacate his/her seat on the board if he/she fails to attend three consecutive regularly scheduled Board meetings, is convicted of a felony or is no longer a resident or property owner within the District.
Generally, the minimum time commitment for serving on the District board is not significant. (There is no maximum time commitment associated with serving on the District board, and the more time board members spend serving the District, the better off our District is from their service!) Board members are expected to attend the regular and (if called) special board meetings of the District and each meeting generally lasts two hours. In addition, Board members are expected to respond timely to emails (primarily from the District manager) to ensure the day-to-day operations of the District continue without interruption. We also encourage board members to attend qualified training sessions including those provided by the Special District Association and the Colorado Division of Local Government.
